Dark Knight Discipline.
Your life isn't going to start until you decide to build the person capable of living it. You're not going to find yourself, you're going to build yourself.
- The contingency minimum. Have a contingency plan for everything. Establish your bad day minimum. This is the absolute floor of what you will do, even if the world is ending. The minimum move that keeps the momentum alive, the ball rolling. The goal isn't the intensity, it's the fact that you did something. Discipline is a constant, not a variable.
- The Batcave rule. The cave is cold, the cave is damp, the cave is uncomfortable. It exists for one reason, the mission. Disconnect your environment to save your focus. You need a mission control in your life where you cannot be distracted by anything. When you are in that space, you are the cowl. By separating your environment, you stop fighting your biology and start using it. You create a psychological trigger so that the moment you sit in that spot, your brain knows it's time to be a detective and solve the problems in your life. When you leave that space, the cowl comes off.
- The ghost protocol. Everyone's obsessed with looking successful instead of actually becoming successful. Everyone is obsessed with telling the world what they're going to do. Silence is a power move. Be the guy who does the work and lets the results do the talking.
- Forensic Sundays. Don't guess, observe. Look at a crime scene and see the data that everyone else misses because they're too emotional or too hurried. Start doing a weekly forensic audit on your life. Every Sunday sit down for 20 minutes with a notebook and look at your past 7 days like a crime scene. Just look at the evidence. Where did your time actually go? What was the villain that stole your focus? When you start tracking the data of your own life, you stop being a victim of your circumstances. Start to see the patterns of your own self-sabotage. Identify the culprit that's killing your productivity, and build a system to neutralize it.
- Cognitive armor. The world is loud and it's getting louder. Practice selective ignorance. Unfollow the people who make you feel less than somebody. Mute the notifications that don't make you money, make you smarter, or make you stronger. Your attention is your most valuable asset.
